About me
Currently working as a Research Assistant at Houston Methodist with Dr. Dimitry Sayenko.
My research interests lie in the intersection of biomedical engineering, neuroscience, and machine learning. I am currently developing neural decoding methods to control spinal cord stimulation in tetraplegic populations via brain-computer interfaces. I previously worked on fetal brain MRI segmentation using attention-gated CNNs with Dr. Kiho Im at Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center (FNNDSC), Harvard Medical School, and developed machine learning pipelines integrating multi-modal biometrics (EEG, BVP, EDA) for cognitive state decoding with Dr. Mauricio Ramirez-Moreno at NSF IUCRC BRAIN Center, Tec de Monterrey. I also studied motion capture biomechanics and RNNs with Dr. Gerardo Presbitero-Espinosa, and adaptive semi-immersive environments with Dr. Manuel Cebral-Loureda.
I graduated with the highest honors from Tec de Monterrey in 2024 in Biomedical Engineering. I received an Academic Talent Scholarship, as well as the Outstanding Student Award, U21 HSG Student Speaker Award, and Outstanding Graduate Award for my undergraduate research.
I have published work in journals such as PNAS, Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, Acta Psychologica, Applied Sciences, and IJERPH. As well as conferences proceedings at IFMBE CNIB, IEEE EDUCON, CogSci, IEEE Workshops, and IEOM; in addition to presentations at MICCAI, IEEE-EMBS BSN, OHBM, ASIA, U21 HSG, and InterfaceNeuro.
Outside of research, I enjoy playing chess, rock climbing, and reading.
